For the Lauder Fellows second virtual session, they had the opportunity to hear from WJC's Maya Samokovlija. Maya spoke to them about different communities around the world and how WJC works to support them.
Saul Hakim, a student at Binghamton University and a Lauder Fellow, expressed disappointment over the Judicial Board’s decision to strike down critical clauses in his Student Association Congress resolutions. These measures aimed to foster empathy and unity on campus by encouraging attendance at Jewish-led events and ensuring BDS-related proposals were reviewed for potential discriminatory impact.
JDA members Shay Rubinstein and Danielle Sobkin hosted a special session for students and young professionals titled “Uniting Voices: Jewish Leadership in Action.”
On Sunday 27th October, JDA Noah Katz (UK), Chair of the Under 35 Assembly of The Board of Deputies of British Jews spoke at Haaretz's London Conference "Israel After October 7th: Allies of Alone?" on a panel about the Next Generation's Relationship with Israel.
Current Lauder Fellow, Annie Gishen, was interviewed by RFI where she spoke about her past experiences with antisemitism on campus and her worries about campus antisemitism at Oxford University where she'll be doing her Masters.
JDA Member David Fiorentini attended and addressed the OSCE Human Dimension Conference in Warsaw. He emphasized the importance of interfaith dialogue during these challenging times, speaking alongside the Chief Rabbi of Poland, Rabbi Michael Schudrich, and the Vice President of CROEIS, Imam Yahya Pallavicini.
