When Israel Rescued the Jews of Iraq

'Operation Ezra and Nehemiah,' beginning in May 1951, was a special Israeli mission to rescue the Jews of Iraq. Over several months, Israel airlifted 120,000-130,000 Jews from turbulence in Iraq, bringing them to safety in Israel. The operation paved the way for future Israeli airlifts of persecuted Jews around the world.
