From December 29, 2024 - January 2, 2025, WJC NextGen brought a delegation of 7 Lauder Fellows and 9 Incubator project leaders to the World Union of Jewish Students 51st Congress in Berlin, Germany.
Prior to the start of the Congress, WJC NextGen hosted over 25 NextGen members in the Berlin area for a welcome brunch. That night, WJC NextGen had the opportunity to take part in the official Hanukkah candle lighting in front of the iconic Brandenburg Gate, where student leaders from 5 continents lit the candles alongside Holocaust survivor Margot Friedlander, the Governing Mayor of Berlin Kai Wegner. the Head of Police, and State Senators and Ministers.
The following day, Lauder Fellows and NextGenInc. members attended a NextGen delegation session, sharing updates and goals for the year. Later that day, NextGen Director Yoni Hammerman gave a session on the lead up to Auschwitz 80 and the future legacy of Holocaust education and memory.
The Congress closed with a Gala, to celebrate the achievements of the Jewish Student Unions throughout 2024. Several NextGen members were award recipients.
