At Columbia University’s graduation ceremonies, a group of Jewish students chose to make a quiet but powerful statement. Led by WJC Lauder Fellow Inbar Brand, the students wore yellow and white stoles that read “Bring Them Home” to honor the hostages still being held by Hamas. The stoles were a simple yet meaningful way to remind those watching that even amid celebration, the lives of the hostages and the pain of their families cannot be forgotten.
This initiative reflected a broader commitment to stand against antisemitism and anti-Israel discrimination on campus. By using their final moments on stage to draw attention to an urgent humanitarian issue, these graduates exemplified what it means to lead with conscience and clarity. Inbar’s efforts ensured that the message reached beyond the Columbia community and served as a reminder of the role young Jewish leaders play in shaping public awareness and advancing justice.
