Dr. Jonathan D. Sarna is a leading scholar of American Jewish history and serves as the Joseph H. & Belle R. Braun Professor at Brandeis University, where he directs the Schusterman Center for Israel Studies. A Yale PhD and member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, he has taught at institutions including Brandeis, Hebrew Union College, and Harvard. Dr. Sarna was also the past president of the Association for Jewish Studies and is the Chief Historian of the National Museum of American Jewish History in Philadelphia. He holds four honorary degrees and is widely regarded as an authority on American Jewish culture, history, and thought. Dr. Sarna lives with his wife, Professor Ruth Langer, and they have two children, Aaron and Leah.
