EUJS plays a vital role in representing Jewish students across Europe. Their commitment to fostering dialogue, promoting understanding, and advocating for the rights of Jewish youth is imperative for the future of Jews in Europe. Over the weekend, at the Level Up! closing plenary in Brussels, participants yelled “ceasefire now,” “free Palestine,” and accused Israel of genocide.
When EUJS President and former Lauder Fellow Emma Hallali spoke up saying it is inappropriate to involve the Israel-Hamas war in a conversation about youth engagement in European election, she was yelled at and called a Zionist fascist. The 13 delegates from EUJS felt threatened and isolated in a room that should value elevating the voices of European youth and fostering inclusivity.
We stand in solidarity with the European Union of Jewish students, Emma Hallali, and the rest of the delegation.
