NEW YORK -- In response to the news of the passing of former Canadian PM Brian Mulroney, World Jewish Congress President Ronald S. Lauder issued the following statement:
“On behalf of the more than 100 Jewish communities affiliated with the World Jewish Congress, I extend our deepest condolences to the family of former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney. A stalwart leader, Prime Minister Mulroney leaves behind a legacy of dedication to public service, diplomacy, and the pursuit of justice.
"In addition to his remarkable achievements in public service, we are grateful for Prime Minister Mulroney's steadfast commitment to strengthening the bonds between Canada and the Jewish community. He was a true friend of the Jewish people and received WJC’s Theodor Herzl Award just last year for his work advocating for Israel on the global stage, unequivocally condemning antisemitism, and fostering greater appreciation for Jewish heritage, culture, and unity.”
