WJC President Ronald S. Lauder Holds Talks with Singapore Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan on Regional Stability and Jewish Community Issues

New York – WJC President Ronald S. Lauder met with Singapore Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan on Thursday to discuss the current issues affecting Singapore’s Jewish community and the situation in the Middle East, underscoring their implications for regional security and international stability.

There are approximately 2,500 Jews currently living in Singapore. The Singaporean affiliate of the World Jewish Congress is the Jewish Welfare Board of Singapore.

Lauder Urges Slovakia to Stand Firm in Support of Israel

NEW YORK – World Jewish Congress President Ronald S. Lauder welcomed Slovak President Peter Pellegrini to his personal residence in New York on Thursday.

Lauder thanked President Pellegrini for Slovakia’s warm relationship with the Jewish community and encouraged the government to build on its efforts to combat antisemitism, including by appointing a dedicated Special Envoy for Combating Antisemitism and Fostering Jewish Life and adopting a national strategy on combating antisemitism.

Lauder also thanked Slovakia for standing firm against proposals to suspend the EU-Israel Association Agreement. The leaders discussed Slovakia’s campaign for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for 2028–2029 and opportunities for continued engagement.

There are approximately 3,500 Jews currently living in Slovakia. The Slovak affiliate of the World Jewish Congress is the Federation of Jewish Communities in Slovakia.

Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković Meets with WJC Leadership to Discuss Strengthening Ties with Croatia’s Jewish Community

NEW YORK – World Jewish Congress President Ronald S. Lauder and Governing Board Chair Chella Safra welcomed Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković to the WJC New York Office on Thursday. During the meeting, the leaders discussed ways to build on and strengthen the Croatian government’s relationship with the country’s Jewish community and support Jewish life.

Thanking the Prime Minister for his government’s continued engagement with Israel, WJC President Lauder encouraged Croatia to build on its efforts to combat antisemitism, including by supporting stronger EU-wide efforts to address antisemitism. Lauder also raised the importance of maintaining safeguards against political-Islamist networks and supporting EU-level examination of the Muslim Brotherhood.

There are approximately 1,500 Jews currently living in Croatia. The Croatian affiliate of the World Jewish Congress is the Coordinating Committee of the Jewish Communities in Croatia.
