Yoni Hammerman serves as the Deputy Director of WJC Elevate and the Director of WJC NextGen. Since joining the World Jewish Congress in May 2018, originally working in the Communications & Social Media department, Yoni has overseen the creation and development of NextGen. In his role, he leads the Lauder Fellowship, Start-Up Nation Mentorship, the Jewish Diplomatic Corps Academy, the NextGenInc Jewish Student Incubator, all internships in the organization, the Jewish Youth Assembly, and the strategic plan for the organization’s work with younger leaders aged 15-50.
To date, Yoni has spoken at conferences, led roundtable discussions, and organized seminars and conferences on four continents. He has led delegations to NATO, the European Union, the United Nations, NGOs, Jewish community organizations worldwide, and more.
Raised in Rockland, NY, Yoni’s involvement in the Jewish community began early. He served on the Board of Directors of Hillel at Binghamton from 2020-2022, helping steer the organization through the challenges of COVID-19 for Jewish students on campus. Additionally, he serves on the young leadership board of several non-profits in New York City. During his time at university, he served on the Board of Directors of the Off Campus College Transport (OCCT), the student-driven and student-managed bus company. As Driver Representative, Yoni facilitated pay raises for all employees and improved driver benefits. While on the Board of Directors, Yoni also served as a driver, trainer, and dispatcher for the company.
Yoni holds a B.S. from Binghamton University, majoring in Business Administration with a minor in Israel Studies. He also holds an MBA, graduating Summa Cum Laude. He lives in Manhattan with his fiancée Basha.
